SEMI DETACHED - PERIOD - EXTENSION

Clanage House, Bristol

Dark timber clad extension to period house

A small but bold extension to a period property.

The original house lacked the generous kitchen / dining space our clients were looking for, and to modify the original plan would have meant making compromises elsewhere. It became clear that a side extension would provide the best space and connection to the beautiful garden.

The extension appears in two distinct parts: a rendered lean-to element and a timber clad box. The former accommodates a utility and kitchen, the latter a dining room space. The dark stained cedar takes its strong cues from the black window surrounds on the main house.
